George (Geordie) Goodfellow

Borderers, it is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of George (Geordie) Goodfellow on Saturday, 24th May 2025. He passed away peacefully in the Margaret Kerr Unit at the Borders General Hospital.
Geordie dedicated over two decades of his life to military service, joining the Army in August 1960 and retiring in 1982 with the rank of WO2. He will be fondly remembered for his contributions to the Signals Platoon, his role as a Recruiting Sergeant, and his time as a Signals Instructor. His service took him to Singapore, Borneo, and Northern Ireland.
Beyond his military career, Geordie was a familiar presence at Minden Day in Berwick and was a committed Edinburgh Branch Standard Bearer. Since 2014, he took part in all battlefield tours and had planned to join the group for the 80th anniversary of the crossing of the Rhine. His absence will be deeply felt, and he will be greatly missed.
Funeral details will be published when known.
