Piotr Lewicki

29 January 2026

It is with deep regret that I am informing you of the death of  Piotr Lewicki on 23 January 2026, a soldier who served with quiet distinction and unwavering commitment.

Piotr’s life in uniform began early, shaped by the discipline and resolve of a boy soldier in the early 1960s. From these formative days, he carried forward a sense of duty that never left him. He went on to serve with the Cameronians before joining the KOSB where he became known not for loud words or self-promotion but for reliability, steadiness and professionalism under pressure. His service took him far from home; early operations in Aden tested him in demanding conditions and there followed postings across various theatres around the world. Wherever he served, Piotr earned the respect of those alongside him, for his competence, for his calm presence and for his loyalty to his comrades. He was a soldier others were glad to have beside them, particularly when circumstances were hard and the margin for error was thin.

Despite the breadth of his experience, Piotr was never one to seek the limelight. He carried his stories lightly, preferring humour, observation and quiet reflection over bravado. Those who knew him well remember a man defined not just by where he served but by how he served; with integrity, modesty and an unshakeable sense of responsibility to those in his care. Beyond the uniform, Piotr was a steadfast friend and a proud Borderer at heart. His passing leaves a space that will not easily be filled but his example endures in the memories shared, the lessons passed on, and the bonds of service that never truly fade. He will be remembered with respect, affection and gratitude.

Rest easy, Piotr, your duty is done. Once a Borderer, Always a Borderer.
