Service and Funeral details of the Late Andy Tieck
Service for 24225903 Heinz Andreas Tieck and to everyone who knew him “Andy”
Andy enlisted at Dumfries on the 15th December 1970 joining as an Infantry soldier in the King’s Own Scottish Borderers.
This would be the beginning of a long career lasting 24 years; 325 days finally being discharged on the 4th November 1995 with the rank of Colour Sergeant.
During his nearly 25 years’ service Andy served on deployment and exercise in various locations around the world including:
The UK, Germany (Osnabrück, and two tours of Berlin), Rhodesia (Operation Agalia) as part of the peacekeeping force monitored the transitional stages of Rhodesia’s independence in the run-up to the 1980 elections. Belize (Central America), Kenya and Northern Ireland of which he was part of eleven operational deployments.
For his service Andy was awarded the following medals:
General Service Medal (1962) with Clasp for Northern Ireland
The Rhodesia Medal
Zimbabwe Independence Medal
Gulf Medal 1990-1991 with Clasp 16 Jan – 28 Feb 1991.
The family invite Borderers and Friends to join them in celebrating the life of their beloved Dad and Grandad, Andy.
