Borderers, during the period 01-06 May 1970 the Bn moved from Osnabruck to Belfast for it’s first of many deployments to “The Province”. A relationship that would span 36 years and effect many Borderers and their families.
On the 07 May the Bn under command of Lt Col Andrew Myrtle took over tactical control of central Belfast from 2nd QUEENS. With companies based:
A COY- BROWN SQUARE
B COY- GIRDWOOD PARK
C COY- PALACE BKS
SP COY- LEOPOLD STREET
By the weekend of 9/10 May Borderers were heavily engaged in quelling riots and used CS Gas for the first time on 10 May 1970.
