Our Museum is Temporarily Closed as part of the Living Barracks Project and will be due to re-open Late 2026
The King’s Own Scottish Borderers’ museum has now temporarily closed and the collection is being decanted into the West Block of the Barracks whilst work takes place in the East Block.
The KOSB’s collection is being documented and its condition assessed to form a conservation schedule. The collection will later make up part of the new museum at the barracks, but in the meantime, the future plan for visitors to the site should allow access to part of the collection through temporary displays in the Barracks (probably late 2024).
The Living Barracks Project plans to develop the Barracks into a thriving cultural hub, bringing empty buildings and spaces back into use in a way which supports tourism and the local economy.
As part of the plans, Our existing gallery space would be updated and improved.
Improvements will also be made to the Parade Ground to allow it to continue to play an active role and to host our Minden Day Parades.
We have an unrivalled collection of documents and images relating to the Regiment’s 317-year history. Access to the Archives is currently closed, however you can still make a request on our research page.
You can also contact the Museum for details.
