Alexander (Alex) Whitelaw – Obituary

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of Colour Sergeant Alexander Whitelaw who died on the 5th October 2016 at Hawkinge House, Hawkinge, Kent aged 92.

Alex Whitelaw joined the 1st Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers in 1942, retiring in 1968. He saw active service during the Second World War, the Malayan Emergency, Aden and the Borneo Confrontation. 

The King’s Own Scottish Borderers Association has extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to Alex’s daughter Jane and wider family members at this very difficult time.

Funeral details have been notified as follows. Tuesday 1st November 2016, 10 am, Lyminge Parish Church of St Mary and St Ethelburga, Lyminge, Kent followed by interment at the Shorncliffe Military Cemetery, Shorncliffe, Kent.

Alex’s family extend a warm welcome to all Borderers to attend the above service, refreshments will be served post service at The Grand, The Leas, Folkestone, Kent CT20 2XL.
