BERWICK LITERARY FESTIVAL
Borderers,
Please see below, it may be of interest.
‘The British Army since 9/11’ is an important and topical free session at Berwick Literary Festival on Saturday 16 October. Described as “a revelatory, explosive new analysis of the military today” Simon Akam’s new book The Changing of the Guard analyses the campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq and seeks reasons why (in his view) neither achieved its objectives.
This talk will interest all who have served or still serve in the British Army in any rank or capacity, people from other Services, and those concerned in any way with Britain’s defence.
Max Hastings, one of Britain’s leading military historians today, wrote ‘This author holds nothing back about who’s to blame for failure in Iraq and Afghanistan’.
Berwick is one of the few events of its type to address military subjects. The talk will be on Zoom and is free to ‘attend’ and will last no more than an hour. Simon will be introduced and interviewed by Lt Colonel (Retd) Keith Montgomery RE.
