John Grant – Notification and Funeral Details
Borderers,
It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of John (“Ginger”) Grant who sadly passed away at home in Ballykinler, County Down, Northern Ireland on Wednesday 7th June 2017 aged 85. John served with the 1st Battalion and saw action in Korea in the “Battle of Guy Fawkes” in November 1951 where Sgt Bill Speakman earned the Victoria Cross.
On behalf of its members, the King’s Own Scottish Borderers Association has extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to John’s son Gerald and wider family members at this particularly difficult time.
Funeral details have been notified as follows;
Date: Friday 9th June 2017
Time 9.30 am
Location: Ballykinler Church, Ballykinler, County Down, Northern Ireland
John’s family have extended a warm welcome to all Borderers who may wish to attend the ceremony and join them for refreshments post service. Civilian dress with Regimental tie only please.
