KOSB Association AGM 2017
Dear Borderer,
| As you will all know, it has been the custom for some years now to hold the Association AGM at The Barracks on the morning of our Minden Day parade. While this has been in many ways convenient in using the opportunity presented by a good gathering of Borderers, I am aware that several attendees find it less satisfactory – there is a feeling that we rather rush through the business in order to be finished in time for the parade, while there are a number of members who would prefer to spend the morning in the company of their friends and former colleagues. And, there are others who would like to see the meeting held away from Berwick, as it was in the past.
Having considered this matter at the recent Trustees’ AGM it was agreed that, this year, the AGM would be held on a different date, and separate it from Minden Day. In this way, it is hoped that we will attract more attendees, and have more time to discuss the business in hand. Accordingly, the plan is to hold the Association AGM on Saturday 16 September 2017, at the Scots Guards Club, Haymarket, Edinburgh, commencing at 1100. The meeting would be followed by a light sandwich lunch. I stress that this change is at the request of a good number of the membership, and the Trustees want to respond to your wishes. It is hoped that this new date and venue will prove popular – it is easy to get to by public transport, and very central. Can I ask you all to note this date and time in your diaries and, importantly, spread the word to your membership; let’s get as many members along as we can, and make it a success. For catering purposes, may I request that individual Branch Secretaries co-ordinate the number of members from their respective branches who wish to attend and notify HHQ accordingly. Members who are unable to attend the meeting are kindly requested to submit any relevant points or concerns via their respective Branch Secretary, or direct to the Association Secretary in advance.
