MINDEN 2023

31 July 2023

Borderers,

with “Minden” 2023 behind us I would like to thank you all for attending and making it another successful day, I know many of you travel a long way and make a weekend of it in Berwick.  As with all of these events a lot of work goes on behind the scenes with a very small band of Borderers, in particular I would like to thank the following publicly:

Ms Nancy Steele and her outstanding dancers who performed for 45 minutes to entertain the spectators at no cost to us. Nancy also works tirelessly assisting the EXO in setting up the day.

The Berwick Det of the Army Cadets under the direction of Lt David Openshaw and SSI Danny Farish. The Cadets who are all under 16 do an outstanding job of carrying our Roses then clearing up the square after the parade, they are an excellent example of todays youngsters.

The Berwick and Eyemouth British Legion Pipe Band who along with our own Pipes and Drums formed an impressive sight.

This year for the first time we dispensed with a marquee and instead used the Drill Hall and Fusiliers bar by the kind permission of Danny Farish and Alan Strachan, it proved to be a success and we hope to continue this arrangement in the future. We also had a contingent from the Fusiliers Association on parade, it was great to see them maintaining the towns links to RNF/RRF.

The KOSB Regimental Association will continue to commemorate The Battle of Minden in Berwick for the foreseeable future, next year the parade will be on Saturday 27th July 2024. We appreciate the support given by the citizens  of Berwick upon Tweed, NCC and the Town Council. If any organisation or individual would like to contribute or assist in future events please get in touch with me.
