Private Alexander Ponton KOSB – New Headstone

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) will be installing a new headstone to Private Alexander Ponton KOSB followed by a short service of dedication in the churchyard of Hobkirk Parish Church, Hawick on Thursday 28th September 2017 commencing at2.30pm. The service will be conducted by Reverend Nicol.
Alexander Ponton served with the King’s Own Scottish Borderers during World War 1 and died at home on 14th October 1916 after his discharge from the Army. His grave had lain forgotten until a project undertaken by the CWGC recently found its location and are marking his final resting place with a KOSB inscribed headstone.
