Private Alexander Ponton KOSB – New Headstone

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) will be installing a new headstone to Private Alexander Ponton KOSB followed by a short service of dedication in the churchyard of Hobkirk Parish Church, Hawick on Thursday 28^th September 2017 commencing at2.30pm. The service will be conducted by Reverend Nicol.

Alexander  Ponton served with the King’s Own Scottish Borderers during World War 1 and died at home on 14^th October 1916 after his discharge from the Army. His grave had lain forgotten until a project undertaken by the CWGC recently found its location and are marking his final resting place with a KOSB inscribed headstone.
