RBL Scotland Golf Competition

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION SCOTLAND SILVER POPPY GOLF COMPETITION 2018

The competition will be held on the New Course, St Andrews on Friday 4 May. The 2018 competition is being opened to other members of the Armed Forces Community and teams of three are being sought for the 36 tee off times (limit 108 players, playing in groups of 3) that have been granted. NB: All competitors will require a Certificate of Handicap before they are allowed to play and the Maximum Handicap permitted is 24.

The following competitions will take place simultaneously with 1 card being applicable to all of the competitions.  2 competitions are decided on stroke-play, the other 3 on the Stableford Scoring System as listed below.  The premier competition is the “Silver Poppy Team” competition. All competitions are contested over 18 holes:

The Silver Poppy:              Team Competition on Stableford system with full individual handicap allowance.  Each team comprises of 3 players with every score to count.
The Silver Claw:                 Individual scratch stroke-play competition.
The Beaches Trophy:       Individual handicap stroke-play competition.
The Half Section Trophy: Individual Stableford.
The Veterans Quaich:       Highest Stableford score for competitors aged 55 & over.

Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin (Par 3) and 2 Sweep will be introduced along with other sponsorship and activities that will enhance the overall experience for those taking part.

The entry fee and starter fee for 2018 will be combined and the cost per competitor will be £60, this includes an increase imposed by the golf club, but still represents a substantial saving exclusively offered to Legion Scotland.

The presentation of the trophies named above will be held at the St Andrews Links Golf Club.  The trophies may be held by the Branch/Association/Group of the individual winner, but remain the property of Legion Scotland. 2017 prize winners are requested to return trophies to Liz Kyle or on day of competition if arrangement made by the end of March 2018.

Meal Service:  The Golf Club where the presentation of trophies will be held is also offering a 3-course meal. Details on this offer will be provided with your tee-off times.
