With regret and sadness we inform you of the death of “Shep” Sheperd who served in the 1st Bn from 1968 until 1980, predominately in B Coy. Shep was found dead at his home in Coldstream on the 7th March. He was living alone, Police Scotland and the Procurator Fiscal attempted to trace family to take responsibility for his funeral without success. Bob Bolton, formally of the Regimental Band, has taken responsibility for this and the funeral will held at Melrose Crematorium, on Tuesday 9th April at 2 pm. In addition to Bob officiating at the funeral, as lay preacher, he is raising funds to cover the funeral cost of £2,345. For those who may wish to assist

FROM GEERT STEEVENS
It’s 75 year ago that the Allies launched the operation Market Garden. KOSB liberated Achel (Belgium – 20 september 1944) Five heritage associations of our region have a plan to commemorate the start of the operation in our region. This will taking place on 20th September 2019 at the Meuse-Escaut Canal at Lille St.-Hubert (St-Huibrechts-Lille), Hamont, Kaulille, Budel, … Before we finalize our plan we like to know who will attend the commemoration? Of course the KOSB is kindly invited to participate. FYI: The friends of the Suffolk Regiment have confirmed. Maybe you can help with our investigation: Do someone have war diaries from the KOSB during their campaign in Belgium (18-23 september 1944) Kind regards, Geert Stevens Hamont-Achel (Belgium)
