The final RSM of the Regimental Depot Berwick upon Tweed, (If wrong Ken Fraser will correct me), Wattie Murdoch celebrated his 100th birthday on the 15th of March. Wattie, a pre-war professional soldier served in France with the 1st Bn and was evacuated at Dunkirk, then served with the 6th (Border) Bn from Normandy to the Baltic during which he was severely wounded. He went on to serve in BAOR, West Africa (seconded to the Royal West African Frontier Force) then for 6 years he was in turn RSM of the 4th (Border) Bn, the Regimental Depot, and the 4th/5th Bn. His brother, the late RSM Jim (Busty) Murdoch MBE DCM was RSM of 1KOSB in Aden when Wattie was RSM of the Depot.

JAMES COX – NOTIFICATION

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of Private James Cox who sadly passed away on Thursday 14th March 2019 at Aberdeen Hospital aged 84.  James enlisted into the 1st Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers in 1955, serving in Malaya before transferring to 22 Special Air Servicer in Kuala Lumpur in 1956.
Funeral details are: 2.30 pm, Friday 29th March 2019 at St Leonards & St Fergus Roman Catholic Church, St Leonard’s Place, Ardler, Dundee DD3 9HD

TOM MACKENNA – NOTIFICATION

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of Tom Mackenna. Tom joined the Battalion in 1980 and came from Hamilton, his funeral was held on Thursday 21 March 2019 at St Peter’s Church, 2 Buchanan Crescent, Hamilton.

SITTARD WAR GRAVES COMMITTEE FOUNDATION
