GAYNOR DARNELL

Borderers,

it is with great sadness that we notify of the passing of GAYNOR DARNELL on Friday 3rd September. Gaynor passed peacefully after a long courageous battle with illness.

Gaynor was the former wife of Col CHRIS DARNELL, who quotes below:

“Gaynor was passionate about the Regiment and always totally involved in its life when we were at Regimental duty.  Borderers will recall the strains and stresses placed on the families during the Colchester posting with its two tours in Northern Ireland; and then of course Redford, with the Fermanagh tour and then the deployment to the Gulf at no notice over the Christmas period and our delayed return until well into the summer of 1991.  Gaynor was prominent, along with the other wives, in the life of the Battalion through all these difficult days.”
