PRIVATE ALAN SKELDON

It is with great sadness that we notify of the passing of PRIVATE ALAN SKELDON, Alan passed away at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh on 5 May 2022 after several years of treatment for cancer.

Alan enlisted in 1962 as a Junior Drummer and undertook that training at Winston Barracks, Lanark, before joining 1 KOSB in Folkestone. Initially posted to C Company, he soon opted for a Mortar Cadre and moved to Support Platoon within the company. On return from Borneo Alan joined the Pipes and Drums as a tenor drummer and remained with the platoon until his discharge in June 1973.

Alan served in Radfan (his eighteenth birthday), Hong Kong, Singapore, Borneo, Northern Ireland and our routine postings within BAOR and UK.

Alan is survived by his wife Mary and their extended family.
