WARRANT OFFICER CLASS 2 CHARLES “BUDDA” SMITH MBE

It is with great sadness that we notify you of the passing of WARRANT OFFICER CL 2 CHARLES “BUDDA” SMITH MBE on 13th December 2021.

“Budda” as he was affectionately known served with 1st BN from the 1950s to 1970s seeing service in Malaya, Aden, Radfan, Borneo and Northern Ireland. A larger than life Borderer who was always willing to guide wayward jocks. After BN life he continued to serve with the TA and most importantly with the ACF where he would influence many young people across Dumfries and Galloway.
