ERSKINE HOSPITAL FUND RAISING 2018 BY HUGH (DOC) DOCHERTY

This is my 8th and final year of this event as I shall be retiring in March 2019. Health Records staff and Health colleagues from across Greater Glasgow & Clyde have rallied to the cause to help Erskine Hospital for Veterans. The target for 2018 was to exceed the 2017 total of £960.
Help came from family, friends and other agencies within GG&C, not forgetting Health Records management for allowing the time and the venues to enable the fund raising to get off the ground. Events such as Cake Sales which the cakes were donated by family and friends and raffle tickets were sold in tremendous numbers.
The week culminated on the Friday 8th June with the Raffle of 73 prizes and then followed by an evening at the Whitevale Bowling Club with events such as Race Night, Disco and Karaoke. Sponsors for this night were for Barclays bank.
Together with the match funding from Barclays Bank, the whole week’s event totalled £2730:90p
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my colleagues wherever you are in GG&C for this amazing effort in support of this worthwhile charity.
On the visit to Erskine Hospital we met Margaret, wife of fellow Borderer William (Wullie) McMahon . Wullie was a fine 1st Battalion boxer and will be well known to John Steele and others of that ilk. Unfortunately Wullie was not available due to his illness to chat to but his wife recalled happy memories of 1KOSB.
