It is with the greatest regret that I inform you of the death of Very Rev Dr James Harkness on Thursday 20 August 2026 following a lengthy illness. A former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and the first non-Anglian to become Chaplain General of the British Armed Forces.
There will be a private cremation on 9 September followed by a Thanksgiving Service. Further information will be promulgated when known.
