The Regimental Museum is working with award-winning photographer, Jennifer Charlton, on a project to photograph and speak to Borderers, capturing their experiences with the Regiment. Jennifer will produce photographic portraits of each participant, and she hopes to capture a breadth of experience, from the oldest veterans to those who were still serving in 2006. An exhibition of these photographs will be displayed at a time and place yet to be confirmed.
For those who wish to be involved, they will be able to talk informally to Jennifer about their time with the Regiment, and edited versions of these conversations will form the text to accompany each photograph. Conversations will also be recorded so that edited versions of these can be made available as audio in the exhibition. This is a great opportunity to increase public awareness of veteran experiences; the good times and the bad, the hardships and the sacrifices, and the legacy of The King’s Own Scottish Borderers. All photographs and recorded material will be preserved in the KOSB Archive.
We hope that some people will find time to participate on Minden Day, when Jennifer will have a small studio area set up in one of the rooms at Berwick Barracks. Further information about this will be sent out nearer the time. We can also accommodate people who wish to participate at different times and locations.
If you wish to participate in this innovative and important project please get in touch with the Regimental Secretary at secretary@kosb.co.uk
